Honor Our Vets at Washington VA Medical Center (Washington, DC)

Join Santa Rich on Christmas morning as we honor those who served.

Additional Information:
FOOTWEAR: This is NOT a fashion show. You will be on your feet walking for several hours so WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES.

Voluntary Gifts Approved for VETS, not mandatory, completely voluntary: (Most of the following items can be bought at the local Dollar Tree store for $1.25)

Items MUST all be brand new, NO used items.

1.) Kleenex Boxes or pocket size tissues.
2.) Playing cards
3.) Hats, Caps and Scarves.
4.) Pens, Composition Books and Spiral Notepads.
5.) Body Wash.
6.) Deodorant/Antiperspirant – If you can get both of these in one all the better.
7.) Toothbrush/Toothpaste.
8.) Shampoo (Full Size).
9.) Full Size Soap Bars or Liquid Soaps.
10.) Lotions. (Full Size)

The following items are more costly but again its completely voluntary.

1.) White T-Shirts – Med., Large, 2xxLg., 3xxxLg.,
2.) High Efficiency Laundry Detergent Socks.
3.) Blankets/Throws/Snuggies.
4.) Thermal Long Johns.
5.) Slippers.
6.) Lottery Tickets.
7.) Small Wallets.
8.) Sweaters or Sweatshirts.
9.) Jackets, Hoodies or Coats
10.) Chess or Checker Sets, Must be Large Pieces.
***11.)Magazines – This is the ONLY item that can be ‘USED’ but the magazines MUST be in very good condition.
12.) Plain Bottled Water is approved. NO Flavored waters. Otherwise, NO FOOD or DRINKS of any kind. That means NO cookies, candy, cakes, pies, chewing gum etc…NO FOODS and NO Drinks other than plain bottled water. NO Flavored Water.

**Items NOT PERMITTED:
NO FOOD OR DRINK Other than plain bottled water.
NO Cologne, Perfumes or Mouthwash. (Due to Alcohol in these products.) NO Razors.
NO Alcohol, Tobacco, Over the Counter or Prescription Drugs.
NO Christmas Cards ONLY because the Vets get way too many and most go unopened and thrown away.

Most of all bring a warm heart, a big smile and a shining personality.  We have the unique opportunity to make Christmas day a very special day for these men and women who have served our country.

Try to leave your coats, purses and any valuables in your car trunk if possible depending on weather. Its too hot to wear jacket and coats and lug purses around. If you feel you MUST bring any or all of these items they can be locked in NICKI RUBIN’S OFFICE BUT YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET THEM BACK UNTIL ALMOST 12 NOON.

Metro: Not close enough to walk to the V.A. Hospital. If you are going to come by Metro and catch a taxi or have someone meet you, the Brookland – Catholic University Metro is the closest Metro Subway.
Parking information: Free parking. NO money needed to park. Plenty of parking spaces.
